This Crazy Summer Weather! Charleston Beach PhotographerSummer is in full effect here in Charleston. We already have the heat, the humidity, and the constant thunderstorm threat. It's that time of year where every day is a chance of rain and being in the field of photography and juggling clients' sessions become more and more difficult. Typically in the past I have found that a 30-40% chance meant "JUST GO FOR IT." That was until I photographed a family on Isle of Palms this morning where the hourly forecast for sunrise was 0%, yes, ZERO percent and we said "YES ABSOLUTELY GO FOR IT!" When we arrived we were welcomed by dramatically gorgeous clouds, heavily overcast, and showers slowly creeping our way. We certainly did make it out alive, but were caught in downpour by 6:45 am. Thankfully that was enough time to capture some amazing images. And that was when I came to the realization, that even in 2018 nothing is certain. We have to go with our gut and just go for it. If it rains, it rains! Get what you can and just enjoy the time and the moment. It's hard to aim for perfection and wish for the perfect sky when the forecast is about 0-20% reliable these days. I'm so thankful to have clients that will dance in the rain with me!
Here's to the start of the beach season, may your sunrises be pink and your sunsets be lightening free?
